New Jersey State Student Registration Requirements 

For student registration, include the following acceptable documents:
  1. US citizen
  2. Naturalized US citizen
  3. Non-US citizen
  4. Undocumented immigrants (the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology allows undocumented students to enroll in a Beauty School and obtain a License).
    a.  Birth Certificate, or
    b.  US passport
    c.  US citizenship certificate, or
    d.  US passport

    Note: If the applicant does not have a US passport, they must submit a driver’s license along with the US citizenship certificate.
         *   Any valid visa documentation (examples: Permanent Resident Card, work authorization card, visa stamp/seal in passport, etc.)
         *   ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) and passport.

New Jersey State Board - License Application Requirements:
  1. In addition to the student registration documents listed above, the below requirements are required for the licensure application.
  2. High school diploma or official transcript with authorized signature and official seal.
    a. Home Schooling (online school): Submit both Diploma and Official Transcript.
    b. GED: GED diploma or official transcript showing passing exam results
    c. Foreign High School Diploma: Foreign High School Diploma, Official Translation, and Equivalency Evaluation (evaluation form must be the original in color scan, not copy)
    d. Recent face Photo (no background, from the chest up, looking straight ahead). Ni Snapshots or selfies.
Name Discrepancies:
  1. If the name on any submitted document differs, include official name-change documentation such as:
    a. Marriage Certificate
    b. Court Decree,
    c. Name Change Petition Approval,
    d. New and Old Birth Certificate, etc.
Translations:
  1. If any Documents are not English, include an Official Translation.
